"What's got into you?": Renaud Muselier blasts Dominique de Villepin in a press release

Renaud Muselier is not happy at all. The president of the Sud-PACA region literally blasted former Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin during his visit to Marseille this Wednesday.

Appropriation of Gaullism, conflict in the Middle East, proximity to the mayor of Marseille, Benoît Payan, position on Palestine... everything is there.

"What's got into you? " begins Renaud Muselier in this public statement sent to the press before launching into a series of attacks and reproaches.

The reason for Renaud Muselier's anger? Probably an interview Dominique de Villepin gave to our colleagues at La Provence , published online this Wednesday. In this interview, the former Prime Minister confided that there are no longer any Gaullists in the French political landscape.

"Some neglect social justice, others challenge the republican order. And yet, faced with the scale of the challenges, we need a demand for Gaullism to restore a free, humanist, and independent France," explains Dominique de Villepin.

The former head of government notably affirmed his support for the mayor of Marseille's approach to twinning Marseille with a city in the West Bank and confided that he wanted to "greet Benoît Payan" during his visit to the Phocaean city. "He is a man committed to his city and even if we do not agree on everything, we have in common a desire to unite rather than divide," concluded Dominique de Villepin.
